Dr Stephanie Shippen

Bachelor of Psychology, Master of Clinical Psychology, Doctor of Clinical Psychology

Hello, my name is Stephanie (she/her). I am a Clinical Psychologist and I help clients from diverse backgrounds identify and overcome barriers, build healthy relationships, and foster meaning and purpose in their lives

The majority of my practice focuses on:

My clients often come to therapy feeling stuck or overwhelmed in their lives, but after working together, they typically feel more grounded, connected, and compassionate towards themselves and others

More about my work

Therapy can be helpful no matter where we start. It can help us cope with stress and life transitions, heal from trauma, cultivate new skills, and build a life worth living. I enjoy supporting clients as they get to know different parts of themselves, and build friendlier relationships with these parts. Providing warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative support is at the core of my practice.

My personal and professional experience as a multiracial person who grew up overseas makes me passionate about supporting diverse clients. I enjoy working with clients varying in age, gender identity, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, health concerns, nationality, and religion. I have over 15 years of experience working with clients across a myriad of concerns. Some areas of focus include:

Couples Therapy

I am passionate about helping couples deepen and improve their relationships. I draw from Gottman Method and other evidence-based therapies and tailor treatment to match my client's needs.

Gender Affirming Care

As a gender-affirming therapist, I support clients as they explore their gender identity. I provide WPATH assessments for clients seeking gender affirming hormone therapy or surgery.

Trauma

Most people experience some form of trauma in their lifetime. I use trauma-informed therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic practices to help clients heal from trauma.
