Monica Shahat
Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science, Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Advanced), Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology, Educational and Developmental Registrar
Hello, my name is Monica (she/her). I am a Psychologist and Educational and Developmental registrar, and I work with children, adolescents, and adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, navigating school, work, or relationship challenges, or looking for a space to better understand themselves and their experiences.
I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative and safe. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you better understand your thoughts and emotions, recognise your strengths, and feel heard and supported.
The majority of my practice focuses on:
anxiety and depression
managing life transitions and adjustment to change
neurodiversity (ADHD, autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities)
navigating work and school-related stress
My clients often come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to manage what is happening in their lives. Through working together, many begin to feel heard, more connected to their strengths, and more confident in navigating challenges in a way that feels right for them.

About Me
I am a Registered Psychologist and Educational and Developmental Registrar, having completed a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology.
My postgraduate training has focused on development, learning, and mental health across the lifespan. I have experience working in private practice and school settings, and I support individuals from childhood through to adulthood. I value working with people and families at different stages of life, recognising that our needs and challenges change with each life stage. I offer in-person or telehealth sessions for clients aged 16+, and telehealth sessions for clients under 16.
I strive to create a safe, collaborative, and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered in ways that align with their individual goals and experiences. My work is evidence-based, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and culturally responsive.
